Habituated bears are one of the biggest and most scary creatures that anyone can come across. As more homes are being built near woods where wild animals live, these creatures become more familiar with human presence. They soon realize that these human habitats have many food resources, so they tend to go out of their own natural habitat to find food. When this happens, a bear attack may occur.

There are tons of videos now available showing what happens when bears go to homes looking for food. Many of them also feature dogs that show their fierceness in protecting their territory. Sometimes, the result is not too good. But in the video below, a small French Bulldog was able to defend his home from two bear cubs successfully.

Home invasion

This particular video came from a closed-circuit surveillance system directed at the home’s patio. At the start of the clip, two cubs can be seen wandering inside the property, looking for food. They sniff and walk around the front yard while a 20-pound French Bulldog is walking on the doorway, unaware of the two unwanted visitors. The two cubs, unable to find anything, stop and look around.

That’s when the small dog, notices them. The dog starts running down the steps barking and showing its teeth. He senses the potential threat and goes on protective mode.

At first, the two bears seemed unperturbed by the pooch’s yapping. But when it started to lunge at them, they scamper away.

One of the cubs ran towards the exit while the other one ran up the steps toward the front landing area. The dog follows the cub to the doorway, where they briefly go off the camera’s view. For a quick second, the cub is back and running down the steps with the pooch in its heels. The cub then gets to the iron fence and climbs over it, running towards freedom.

Thankfully, the cubs did not attack back. The French Bulldog was so small that they could have actually hurt it. See the heroic dog’s actions in the video below.
