It’s sad to see people give up on taking care of overweight dogs. Some dog owners just choose to let them go instead of working through this problem. Fortunately, dogs who are treated unfairly are often rescued and sent to better owners.

There’s an American Bully named Porky who was previously owned by a couple before getting transferred to a new home. His previous owners saw him as a burden. They got overwhelmed by his numerous health issues that stemmed from his obesity.

After he was surrendered, Porky went to an animal rescue organization called South of the Bully. The people in that organization helped him lose excess weight, which took months of hard work. After losing a lot of weight, Porky got adopted by a couple looking for a new dog to introduce to their two other dogs.

The new owners loved everything about Porky. They saw him as a lovable and silly companion. What other people saw as Porky’s imperfections, they saw as quirks.

The couple got Porky in 2020, which was a time when a lot of people needed emotional support. He was certainly able to provide such kind of support and more. His owners saw him as another person with a unique personality rather than just a dog.

Porky became very close with his owners’ other dog, Athena. She became his best friend, and he would constantly spend time with her when his owners were not around. This shows that Porky is not hard to befriend regardless of whether he’s meeting other dogs or people.

Other people get intimidated by Porky. They tend to feel worried when they see his muscular appearance and scary facial expressions. However, the owners reassure everyone that their dog is far from threatening. They know that anyone who spends a few minutes with him will realize how sweet he is.
