Eldad Hagar, the founder and head rescuer of the animal rescue group Hope For Paws, was called in to rescue a family of dogs. According to the kind neighbor he spoke with, the poor pups first appeared in the neighborhood three days ago after their owner kicked them out of the house. Since then, they were on their own.

With temperatures exceeding 100 degrees, Eldad had no time to waste. He rushed to the address given and there, by the side of the street, he saw the dogs, Sherry, Dale, Stanley, and Fredrick, hiding from the scorching heat of the sun. He knew nothing about their health condition and he didn’t want to put any of them at risk so he quickly began his work and tried gaining the dogs’ trust.

All dogs but Fredrick showed interest in the food the rescuer offered. Sherry, however, was the first to get close to the man in front of them. She starved and she wanted to eat but fleas inside her ears drove her crazy.

Dale, meanwhile, wanted his share of the cheeseburger, too. But no matter how hungry he was, he kept his distance. Only Stanley walked close enough to the rescue to be touched. He knew he needed help so he surrendered without a fight.

Stanley was the oldest among the four dogs. He had a badly injured leg and an abscess on his chest because of the foxtails embedded in his skin. To ensure his well-being, the rescuer decided to secure him first and then his siblings.

As Eldad placed the first pup in his car, he saw the other three walk into someone’s yard. He knew it was the most fitting way to capture them. Unfortunately, when he triggered the trap he set up, it failed and Fredrick escaped. Still, he didn’t lose hope and continued his work.

The rescuer placed Dale in a cage and hoped Fredrick would come to visit his brother. It took more than two hours but in the end, he did. And at long last, all dogs were safe.

Southern California Pomeranian Rescue offered to foster Sherry, Dale, Stanley, and Fredrick. They also agreed to handle their adoption, and before long, all dogs found their new homes.
