There’s no better feeling than driving home and looking forward to a warm meal after a long day at work. You’d want nothing more than to relax on the couch with a cold drink. For a man named Mike Turner, it was exactly what was going on in his mind when he was driving home from work.
It was a particularly cold day and Mike just wanted to erase all the stress he experienced at work. He just wanted to go home and he’d been daydreaming the entire day about the leftover stir-fry in his fridge. Mike even contemplated going over the speed limit as he drove so he could get home faster but decided against it.
About halfway home, Mike noticed something standing in the middle of the road. As Mike got nearer, he realized that it was a dog. Mike stopped as he approached the creature to avoid running her over with the car. Even when Mike was driving near the dog, she refused to move away.
Mike just chuckled at the dog’s bravery and decided to go around her. However, soon after driving away, something pulled on Mike’s conscience, which told him to go back for the dog. Mike followed his heart and went back.
As soon as Mike opened the door, the dog shyly walked to him and rested her head on his lap. The dog wasn’t aggressive but Mike but had a sullen look on her. Mike instinctively pet her head to reassure her that everything was going to be okay.
Eventually, the dog decided to trust Mike and started pacing back and forth in a specific direction. The dog wanted Mike to follow her and Mike decided to trust the dog. The dog led Mike into a ditch and into a small pipe just a few meters from the road. Mike investigated what was inside the pipe and was surprised by what he found.
Inside the pipe were three tiny puppies that were huddled together. The dog that led him to the puppies wanted him to help her with her puppies. Mike rescued all three puppies and the mama dog. He took him to the nearest veterinarian where they were assessed to see if they were healthy.
When the vet offered to put the puppies and the mama dog up for adoption, Mike refused. He didn’t want the mama dog or the puppies to be adopted by strangers. Mike was already attached to the dogs and wanted only the best homes for all of them. When the puppies were about 10-weeks-old, Mike was able to get them adopted by some of his neighbors.
All the puppies were adopted and all that’s left was to find a home for the mama dog. Mike decided to keep her and named her Grace. Mike had Grace spayed to prevent her from getting pregnant again. Here’s a heartwarming video featuring how Grace and her puppies found their forever homes.
