Residents from Brooksville, Florida were shocked and enraged when they saw a dog walking around with an extremely swollen head. Some cruel person placed a large zip tie on his neck and fastened it very tight.

The three-year-old dog was clearly in pain and had difficulties breathing. To help the dog get out of the life-threatening situation, they called the Hernando County Animal Services.

Responders immediately went to the area to retrieve the poor pooch. It took them two days before they finally found him hiding underneath a camper. Because of his condition, it was easy to catch him and place him inside their vehicle. They quickly took him to an animal clinic.

Kind and gentle

Despite being in pain, the dog never showed any signs of aggression or fear. The dog was comfortable around humans and was very kind and gentle. Even when the vets were removing the zip tie, he stayed calm. When it was finally released, the dog’s face showed relief.

Aside from the apparent swelling, the dog’s neck also had a deep indentation. The zip tie was there long enough to leave a painful impression but was thankfully removed before he suffocated.

Several days after getting rescued, the dog’s head returned to its normal size. He was taken to the local shelter later on.

Ongoing investigation

The dog, who they named Bugsy, is doing well with the shelter staff. He has become a favorite because of his amiable demeanor. And although he is ready to be adopted, they will hold the adoption process while there is still an investigation being done.

Hopefully, the authorities would be able to find the person responsible for the cruelty that Bugsy had gone through. This will not just help him get justice, but it will allow the dog to move on with his life and find a good family to live with.
