Dogs are amazing creatures, and they continue to surprise us with everything they do. We also know the fact that they can help people in so many ways. They can lead blind people, detect terrorism, find missing people and the list of what they are capable of goes on.

Dog’s mind is comparable to the memory of a two-year-old child. If you are wondering whether dogs can understand us, well, the answer is yes. Dogs are capable of responding to familiar voices, and can even detect whether someone is a friend or a foe. Dogs also have feelings as proven by research identifying MRI on dogs. Their brains react similarly to humans’ when exposed to emotional stimuli, just like the sound of a baby crying.

Misu and Lala

Mark Kevin Morales Garde shared images of his two dogs on Facebook. The photos clearly explain what had happened that somehow break our heart for their owner. Misu and Lala just tore their owner’s passport and National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) clearance. The documents they shredded into pieces were only claimed last April.

According to Garde, he was telling his dogs before the incident that he will be going back to Mindanao to start travelling again. As he went home the next day, he was surprised by what he saw! The scene frustrated him and made him laugh at the same time.

Understanding a canine’s cognition

Dogs do not have words to tell you what they want and what they don’t want. They just communicate through sounds that give us information to what they are thinking, and through their body language. A dog turning away his head or licking his lips may tell us that he is nervous. Well, there’s still a lot to know about the dog’s cognition, but one thing is for sure: they can understand, and they can feel.
