When a kind woman by the name of Rocie Hernandez realized that her neighbor had been gone for so long, she worried for his dog. She knew she had to take action so she tried to gain its trust by offering it food. She fed it for weeks until she realized its limp had gone noticeably worse.

Rocie, without second thoughts, decided it was time to seek help. So she grabbed her phone and texted Hope For Paws, a charitable institution in L.A. She explained what the situation was and she agreed to meet the rescuers on-site.

Rescue partners Katie McKittrick and Alex Babcock took on the mission to save the little Chihuahua they later on named Clifford. When they learned how terrified he could be, they laid out a failproof plan to catch him. And luckily enough, their plan worked.

Clifford’s feeding station was underneath the house. And as soon as he crawled underneath, the rescuers secured the area with plastic fencing. Katie then followed him inside and coaxed him where Alex waited. And once

The rescuers caught the dog with a net and then transferred him into a travel crate once he calmed down. They thanked Rocie and the rest of the neighbors who looked after him. And afterward, they rushed to the animal clinic, where the pup received urgent medical care.

As it turned out, Clifford’s owner went to the hospital for cancer treatment. He was left behind and forced to fend on his own for a few days until Rocie intervened. And while he lived on his own, he stepped through his collar, which was put on incorrectly, and it embedded on his armpit resulting in a nasty and painful infection.

The dog endured a little more discomfort in order for him to completely heal. But once he received antibiotics and much-needed pain meds, he felt so much better. At long last, he began to relax.

Clifford is now in his foster home and he’s more than ready to find his new family. He’s young and he has so many years ahead of him.
