Eldad Hagar is a prolific dog rescuer who became popular for his rescue videos. His Youtube channel, Hope for Paws, has more than five million subscribers following his activities.
In one of these rescue missions, the seasoned rescuer drove for three hours to save a sweet dog that has just given birth.
Left by owners
According to the people who called Eldad, the dog was pregnant when she was abandoned by her owners in a nearby desert. The dog eventually wandered into a plant nursery where fortunately for her, the owners were good-hearted people. They allowed her to stay right there until she gave birth. They also fed and took care of her litter.
But the plant nursery was no place for a dog family. When the pregnant pooch gave birth to a litter of six puppies, they called Eldad several days later. And even though the place was a bit far from Los Angeles, the kind rescuer didn’t hesitate to make the drive. When he arrived, Eldad was met by probably the sweetest dog that he had ever come across.
Eldad was shown into the nursery, where he found the pups scattered by the plants. He whistled to get the mama dog’s attention, and she ran up to him immediately. She was very friendly, lying on the ground and showing her belly. It was as if she knew that the rescuer was there to give her puppies a good life.
The long journey ahead
After the dog mom fed her babies, it was time for them to leave. Eldad had a long way back home, and he wanted to have the dogs checked by a vet. The adult dog, who was named Moon, had an infected eye caused by her eyelids moving inwards.
The whole family is now living with a foster, and they are all safe and happy. Moon will be scheduled for surgery soon. When all the puppies are grown up, around eight weeks old, they will start placing them in their forever homes.
