When Long Island resident and dog owner, Mark Freeley, decided to take his dogs for a walk on Sunday morning, he didn’t expect that one of his dogs, Storm, would do such a heroic act that surprised and delighted him. The video of the rescue was also posted on the internet, which has since been shared and liked countless times.

It all started when Mark took his dogs, Storm, and Sara, out on a walk along Long Island Sound. He noticed that Storm was acting rather strange. That was when Mark noticed that a baby deer was struggling in the water. The heavy currents and big waves would have surely dragged the baby deer further out into the water, which would have surely drowned the animal.

After noticing the baby deer, Mark then saw one of his dogs, Storm, jump into the water and started swimming towards the fawn. Mark couldn’t do anything but decided to record a video of the events that were unfolding right before his eyes. Eventually, Storm made it to the fawn and grabbed the baby deer by the neck.

After securing the deer with his mouth, Storm started to swim towards shore. The deer was clearly tired and breathing heavily. However, it remained still. Storm proceeds to nuzzle the fawn to see if it’s alive.

Unfortunately, the fawn was spooked by Storm and ran back into the water. This time, the fawn even went further. Thankfully, Mark wasn’t alone. A man named Frank Floridia happened to be watching and decided to help. Together, Mark and Frank used a rope to pull the baby deer back to shore.

The fawn was eventually taken to an animal rescue facility where it was treated for minor wounds and was then released back into the wild after recovering. Thanks to Storm, the baby deer’s life was saved. Mark also learned that if his dogs are acting up, it might be for a good reason. Here’s a video featuring Storm rescuing a drowning baby deer’s life.
