Takis’ primary purpose in life is to save dogs. This rescuer has left his day job and past life behind to devote his full attention to rescuing stray canines in Greece.
He put all of his hard-earned money into building a shelter. Hundreds of canines have benefited from his efforts so far.
Lena, a former stray, is one of these dogs.
Takis discovered Lena searching for food beside a dumpster in Ierapetra, Crete. She was severely malnourished, with bones protruding from her skin. Surprisingly, she was wearing a rope around her neck with the end chewed off. The dog appeared to have been restrained, yet she managed to escape.
There’s a good likelihood she was abused and neglected as a puppy and had to flee to escape. Her deep-seated mistrust of humans is another proof of her heinous past.
When Takis attempted to approach her, she sprang at him, barking and exposing her teeth. She wanted the man to know she wasn’t afraid to go after him.
Takis, on the other hand, has been in this predicament before. He understands that gaining the dog’s trust will take time. Takis stayed by the dog’s side for several hours, gently talking to her and feeding her.
He eventually managed to cram her into a container and into his car. After that, she was transferred to the shelter.
Despite the fact that Lena was able to get into the box, she still has a phobia of humans. She wasn’t even at ease in the presence of so many dogs. When he tried to pet her head or rub her body, she would snap at him. Takis, on the other hand, never gave up.
He spent the next few weeks devoting many hours of his day to lavishing love and attention on Lena. Her barriers began to erode over time. She began to trust her compassionate rescuer and even learned to get along with the other canines.
She soon began to play with them and began to appreciate being touched by a human. The previous stray has also matured into a charming and caring animal.
Lena was also getting into better shape. Her body began to plump up and her coat began to look healthy. Her precious life has radically changed as a result of this very helpful man.
