A malnourished pit bull was spotted curled up in an old, abandoned fruit box by animal control officers. They picked up the pit bull and sent him to the LifeLine Animal Project, a rescue group, where he would be cleaned, checked, and hopefully adopted.

Because he was discovered curled up in a ball inside a plum box, Karen and her colleagues decided to call him Plum. The rescue group’s staff expressed their desire to make Plum feel better and reassure him that he was protected, despite his fear and depression.

Plum’s caregivers realized he needed more space, so they made him a wonderful fluffy bed in a crate, filled it with food, and left the door wide open. They hoped Plum would enter in on his own and then depart the plum box where he had been spotted.

Plum ultimately broke out from his box and began to stay in his new crate after he understood he was safe there. As soon as he bonded with a few of his carers, he began exploring the shelter and slightly started wagging his tail.

Karen stated that they wanted Plum to find his happily-ever-after, so they began posting about him on the Facebook page of their rescue group. Plum was swept off his feet and adopted by his mother Melonie after a month.

Plum met Melonie for the first time when he entered her home and met her other dog. She was initially concerned about introducing Plum to her puppy because she dislikes being around other animals, but her concerns dissipated as soon as the two furbabies began playing and grooming each other.

After a few months, Plum grew from a small, scrawny-looking puppy to a healthy, strong pit bull. He now lives happily with all of his stuffed animals, which he treats as his lovely children, and is finally living the life he deserves.
