The fact that our doggos are pretty smart isn’t exactly a big secret. In fact, the word “smart” has pretty much been overused when talking about our fur babies. But as all dog lovers know, not all pups are the same when it comes to mental abilities. Some are simply superior, and Border Collies are regarded as one of the smartest pups to ever exist.
Given that Border Collies are herding doggos, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that they are pretty intelligent. However, what they could do outside of the farm is truly mind-blowing, and anyone who’s ever had a pet Border Collie will definitely agree.
One great example of a genius Border Collie is the clever canine in the viral video below. This fascinating furball is Bear from Guernsey Island, a territory of Great Britain. The six-year-old pooch became an internet celebrity after a video of him fetching several toys went viral on different social media platforms.
The doggo became so popular that he was even invited to a British news program, along with his dog mom, 27-year-old Sophie Gloss. There they performed the same stunt, which left the hosts and the viewers flabbergasted. And we can’t really blame them.
This pup’s meteoric rise to fame started in the clip below. In the video, we could see several of Bear’s toys scattered on the floor while the pooch waited for Sophie’s instructions. The dog mom would state the name of the toy she wanted to be fetched, and Bear would get the right toy all the time!
The proud dog mom shared that they started with 11 toys, and after more training, they were able to bring that number up to 52. Aside from his stuffed toys, Bear could also be told to fetch a beer from the fridge! Now that’s what you call a clever doggo! Watch Bear in action in the clip below.
