Danielle Eden and her husband Rob Scheinberg are the founders of Dog Tales, a beautiful 50-acre sanctuary in the city of King in Ontario, Canada. They rescue dogs not just in Canada but also in other countries such as Korea, Greece, and Romania.

Both Danielle and Rob came from Israel, so they go back every year to save anywhere from ten to 20 dogs from various shelters. They take in aging and disabled canines, as well as those who have spent years languishing in a kennel.

Through years of experience, the two intuitively know which dogs are in most desperate need of their help. Hence, it’s usually pretty easy for them to draw a list of the animals they’ll be taking back with them to Canada.

However, it all changed when Danielle and Rob visited a shelter in Israel that they’d never been to before. The ill-maintained facility was filled to more than twice its capacity.

It only had room for 70 animals, but 250 dogs lived there among rats. Around six dogs shared a single cage, and each kennel only received one loaf of bread during mealtime. The canines had to fight for it if they wanted to ease their hunger.

Danielle and Rob couldn’t possibly choose just 20 dogs to save. Every single one of those pooches was in dire straits. Thus, the couple decided to buy the entire shelter.

Over the next few months, Danielle, Rob, and several volunteers worked to give all 250 dogs a better life. They transferred 90 canines to better shelters around Israel, and 25 flew with Danielle and Rob to the Dog Tales sanctuary.

Meanwhile, the couple assigned a team the task of whipping the Israeli shelter into shape. The crew is ensuring that it’s clean and habitable for the remaining pooches as they wait for their trip to Canada.

Veterinarians also arrived to take care of the animals’ medical needs. Other staff members are socializing the canines and giving them appropriate nourishment.

Several canines have already found forever families in Canada. Those who haven’t are being spoiled with lots of love and treats at the Dog Tales sanctuary. Watch the Israeli dogs’ story here:
