This story is unique. It is about a stray dog that dog sought refuge during a hurricane and ultimately found a permanent home. And we believe that it was destiny at work.

A female husky-wolf mix sought sanctuary at the Florida house of Imgur user Amiawifeorasword before Hurricane Irma struck. When the homeowner noticed the dog, she and her family were preparing for the approaching storm.

She called the dog on the opposite side of the street, and she approached her with caution. Before crossing the street, the dog looked in both directions. The dog remained on her doorstep, appearing nice and calm.

The dog appeared to be a nice and gentle creature. She appeared to be hungry and filthy, so the homeowner gave her food and water.

The dog was initially hesitant to accept attention from the homeowner – all she wanted was a temporary home. But because of her extreme hunger, she devoured the meal that was given to her. After finishing her meal, she waited patiently on the porch for the owner.

The dog missed being cared for, so when the homeowner rubbed her tummy, she felt joyful and comfortable.

The homeowner then uploaded a photo of the stray dog in an effort to locate its owner. She learned that she was originally owned by a family that had to give her up due to financial hardships. The dog was soon adopted, but the family decided to return her.

The next owner was even worse. When he finally decided that he really no longer wanted her, he just dumped her.

A month has passed since the dog has been living on her own. She had matted fur, her paws were bleeding, and was emaciated. The dog also sat in tar by accident, causing it to solidify on one side of her body.

The owner of the home decided to bathe her. The dog was so anxious that she sobbed during her wash.

After bathing, she was groomed by the homeowner. Her overgrown fingernails and tangled fur were trimmed.

Later, the woman took the dog to the veterinarian for an examination, and determined that the dog was around one year old.

The woman ultimately opted to care for the dog permanently. She named the dog Amaterasu, and shortened it to Amy.

Amy showed unconditional love to the family who cared for her throughout the time she required shelter from the disaster. Amy, you’re one lucky dog!

A stray puppers wandered onto my porch right before Irma got here.
