A man was walking down a sidewalk in Phoenix when he suddenly came across a disturbing situation. A pit bull suddenly stuck his head out of a hole in a concrete wall when he saw another dog pass by. The two-year-old canine’s head got stuck in the cinder block hole, and he couldn’t get out. The other dog then started to give him little bites on his cheeks and ears.

The concerned resident managed to scare the other dog away and tried to help the trapped pooch. But he couldn’t set him free. The kind guy then called the Arizona Humane Society as he did not want to cause the poor pup any more pain. Rescuers were soon on their way.

Freedom

The shelter workers knew that the dog was in a life-threatening situation. They needed to set him free right away, but it was no easy task. Gently and carefully, they chiseled the cement surrounding the pup’s neck. They made sure that no harm came to the pit bull.

Thankfully, the dog stayed calm while the rescuers were chipping away at the cinder block. When he was finally free 20 minutes later, the pit bull couldn’t be happier. He started wagging his tail and running around his rescuers.

Returned to owner

The dog was then taken to a vet to have his injuries evaluated. They treated him for minor scrapes and swelling around his neck. He also had some wounds on his face from the dog attack. But all in all, he was fine.

The shelter staff first thought that the pit bull was a stray. But then, an online plea from his worried owners came to their attention. They learned that his name was Buddy and his family lived in the city. They called his owner, and they were soon reunited.

Before Buddy went home, the shelter made sure that he got a microchip. If the sweet pooch ever gets lost again, it would be easier to get him back home.
