Dogs can be heroes and they usually don’t know when they have become one. They simply follow directions or do what is right. But whether they know that they are heroes or not, dogs who save lives are deserving of the highest praise. Max, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier/Bulldog mix, is one of these courageous canines.

While Pit Bulls are sometimes criticized for being a bully breed, this adorable dog showed how kind and helpful they can be by rescuing a child from drowning. The child might not have lived if not for Max’s help.

Areas near bodies of water are places where people can relax and enjoy and most dogs love these places. When the water current becomes stronger, though, it becomes an unhappy place.

A man named Rob Osborn and Max were enjoying themselves on the sandy riverbank in Port Noarlunga, Australia. It was all fun until they observed a child trapped in the water because of the current.

When Osborn noticed the child in distress, he prepared to swim to rescue the kid. However, he noticed that Max also wanted to join him. Therefore, Osborn yelled at the dog and pointed toward the child. Max rushed into the water without hesitation and followed the instructions to the letter.

Max approached the kid while wearing an adorable dog life jacket. Osborn then told the kid to call the dog and grasp the life vest’s handle. The kid was scared, but at least he was in capable paws now.

The boy held desperately to the dog as he paddled back to shore, and that was where the boy’s mother was waiting. The child was unharmed, but was noticeably disturbed.

Through all these, Osborn was thrilled by what Max did.

The child and his mother left before the news crews arrived. They probably wanted to return home as quickly as possible.

Osborn hopes they can find a way to contact the child and his mother so he could ask how the boy is doing.

Max deserves every praise out there for his bravery. His efforts will hopefully show the rest of the world that all dogs, especially Pit Bulls, can be excellent companions and even heroes.
