Dogs are more than our family; they are our guardian angels. It is not uncommon to see stories on the internet about heroic dogs doing heroic deeds—even risking their lives in the process.

The same can be said about a Pittie named Jack. Sherree Lee Lewis has been looking after her son’s beloved dog, Jack, while he is deployed in Afghanistan. Together with his cat buddy, Kitty, they happily live with Sherree in their Florida home.

Little did Sherree know, Jack was about to follow her son’s footsteps and become a hero himself. One day in their yard, Sherree was horrified to see two coyotes attacking Kitty. According to Sherree, one coyote had Kitty by her neck, while the other one had her by the leg.

Kitty was helpless against the stronger coyotes, and just when it seemed bleak for the defenseless cat, Jack, her dog buddy, came to her rescue. Seeing that Kitty was in danger, Jack didn’t hesitate to leap into action. He was ready for a fight.

Jack managed to force the coyotes to drop Kitty and flee towards the bushes. Sherree was amazed that Jack was able to fight off two adult coyotes and save Kitty. Though Kitty was in pretty bad shape after the attack, she was lucky to have Jack by her side.

Kitty still could not walk due to the attack. She had broken teeth, and there was swelling in her brain. Luckily for her, Jack came just in the nick of time. Jack has ever since refused to leave Kitty’s side. He is always on the alert, guarding his cat buddy against the coyotes.

Sadly, the incident might not be the only one in the area, and someone else must have already lost a cat or a tiny dog from the coyotes. Sherree decided to have trappers set up traps where the coyotes are usually seen to prevent something similar from happening again.
